World Folk Film Contest: Call for Submissions

The National Folk Museum of Korea (NFMK) is hosting the very 1^st World Folk Film Contest, a cultural event for preservation and creative transmission of cultural heritage. This project is a call for films in two specific areas: world folk culture and puppets around the world. There are two categories of entries for the Contest: General documentary’ and Prototype materials and film archives. The NFMK encourages a wide variety of participation of the public saying, “not only documentaries produced by experts, but also film/video images taken by amateurs can be a very important resource for someone.”

This contest addresses also common culture and heritage along the Silk Roads within the aforementioned themes to participate in this global contest and invites individuals to bring lesser known elements of cultural heritage to the world stage. The centuries of exchanges have influenced and formed folk culture of people of regions along the Silk Roads, the Silk Roads related submissions will be thus an outstanding contribution to preserving the value of the world’s folk culture.

The call for submissions is open now up to 31 January 2018 and the winners will be announced in March 2018, with an award ceremony to follow in the spring of 2018.
