©Permanent Delegation of the Republic of Kazakhstan to UNESCO

On Friday 26 April the Permanent Delegation of the Republic of Kazakhstan to UNESCO, in collaboration with the UNESCO Silk Roads Project, will hold a screening of the documentary film, ‘Equus: Story of the Horse – First Riders’ from 18:30 in Room II, UNESCO HQ. The film, created by an international team led by Canadian anthropologist-turned-producer Dr. Niobe Thompson, explores the origins of the unique partnership between humans and horses.  The documentary follows a group of nomadic people on their grueling winter migration over the snow-covered alpine passes of Altai Mountains, revealing firsthand how horsepower makes possible this ancient way of life. Following the screening, the films creators will participate in a roundtable discussion on the impact of horsemanship on the history of world civilizations.
