The Dream of the Maritime Silk Road
© Permanent Delegation of People's Republic of China to UNESCOIn the perspective of reflecting the East-West commercial and cultural exchanges, the grand dance drama, “The Dream of the Maritime Silk Road”, was created by Fujian Opera and Dance Drama Theatre. Through the artistic expression, the sailors’ story in Quanzhou Zayton Port reproduces the history of the ancient Maritime Silk Road along with regional traditions and customs and the Minnan culture (Southern Fujian).
In this respect, The Permanent Delegation of the People Republic of China to UNESCO and the Cultural Department of Fujian province of China organize the Ballet “The Dream of the Maritime Silk Road” in UNESCO Headquarter, Paris. The Ballet narrates a drama about passion, filiation and heroism that have been present for 800 years now in the port of the Quanzhou as the departure point of the Maritime Silk Roads. The story of the ballet is about A’hui, captain of Tong Yuan Zhou Shi fleet, and his wife that want to celebrate the 100th day of birth of their son when a Western Asian Marchant propose him to open a new waterway.
