"The Cultural potential of Iran in the Revival of the Silk Roads and its Future prospects"

An International conference on the Silk Road entitled "The Cultural potential of Iran for the reinforcement of the intercultural dialogue along Silk Roads and beyond" will be held at the Ferdowsi University in Mashhad (Khorasan, Iran) on October 15 - 16, 2016. The conference will be organized by the Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, the Center for International Research and Education of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran as well as the International Institute for Central Asian Studies (IICAS).

Experts from different countries will be attending this conference. They will consider the cultural heritage in Iran, both tangible and intangible, and its role in reinforcing intercultural dialogue, for instance the roles of Persian language and literature, music, clothing, customs, celebrations and mourning and religious components and cultural figures.

In addition to examining the role of the Silk Road in the cultural, scientific and civilizational interactions of the nations along it, the experts will examine Iranian exchanges with the surrounding countries along the Silk Road and Iran's role in the preservation of common heritage and collective identity. Finally, the research opportunities and future prospects for interactions along the Silk Road and beyond will be considered.
