“Youth Eyes on the Silk Roads” Photo Exhibition in Bamyan, Afghanistan

The “Youth Eyes on the Silk Roads” traveling photo exhibition was held in Bamyan province, Afghanistan on 1 March 2019. This traveling photo exhibition displays the photos that best represent the spirit of the 2018 “Youth Eyes on the Silk Roads” international photo contest. Following Beijing (China), Muscat (Oman), Ashgabat (Turkmenistan), and Tara (Russian Federation) this was the fifth time this travelling exhibition has been held since the announcement of the results in September 2018.

The exhibition was organized by the Ministry of Information and Culture of Afghanistan in cooperation with the Afghan Focal Point of the UNESCO Silk Roads Project Mr. Abdul Moqim Afghan.

The hundreds of visitors to the exhibition included the Deputy Minister for Tourism of Afghanistan Ms. Sayeda Mojgan Mostafavi, the Governor of Bamyan Mr. Tahir Zuhair, guests from other provinces of Afghanistan, and foreign participants of the ski competitions. While visiting the exhibition, Ms. Mostafavi highlighted the importance of these kinds of events for the sharing of the common cultural heritage of different nations. She also encouraged young people to actively participate in these types of international contests.

The photo exhibition was part of the First Winter Tourism Festival in Bamyan, which included a Girls’ ski competition, the 9th Afghan Ski Challenge and a cultural evening.
