Publication of 'Silk Roads Papers - 3rd edition'
UNESCO is pleased to announce the publication of the third edition of the Silk Roads Papers. Building on the work of young scholars, this new volume continues to explore the exchanges and interactions that shaped the Silk Roads and their enduring influence.
Selected from a highly competitive pool of applicants, the research featured in this edition offers fresh perspectives on these historic networks, revealing new dimensions of their global impact.
As part of the UNESCO Silk Roads Programme’s ongoing efforts to deepen understanding of the rich history, shared legacy and enduring spirit of the Silk Roads, UNESCO, with the support of the National Commission of the People's Republic of China for UNESCO, launched the Silk Roads Youth Research Grant in 2021. Since its inception, this initiative has empowered young researchers to engage with this shared heritage and to contribute to a deeper appreciation of the Silk Roads’ significance across cultures and generations.
This third edition goes beyond its predecessors by addressing themes not previously explored in the series. Introducing new subjects and broadening the scope of Silk Roads research, it reaffirms the importance of youth-led inquiry in reinterpreting history and ensuring its continued relevance for the future.
