Tuesday 16 October 2012, a very busy day at UNESCO
Do not be surprised if you find yourself caught up in a whirlwind when you arrive at the office tomorrow morning. The day is packed with events and activities!
The highlights of the day are the launch of the 2012 Education for All Global Monitoring Report and the first day of the annual Policy Forum organized by IIEP to which we are all cordially invited.
The day starts at 9 AM (Room I) with the launch of the 2012 Education for All Global Monitoring Report where the Director-General and other guests, including our Goodwill Ambassadors and participants of the Policy Forum organized by IIEP, will be present. (Video on Demand).
Youth is equally the central theme of the IIEP Policy Forum, which focuses on youth engagement in educational planning and policy-making processes. The event aims at creating dialogue among young people, policy-makers, practitioners and researchers to promote meaningful youth engagement within different levels of formal and non-formal education and training sectors. The Forum starts at 14h30 in Room II. (Live transmission Floor | English).
In the course of the morning, the UNESCO Goodwill Ambassadors, Artists for Peace and Sports Champions will meet with the DG to discuss UNESCO’s priorities and strategies as well as peace and sustainable development. At the end of the day, Nasser David Khalili, Iranian-born and British entrepreneur, will be nominated at the end of the day as the newest UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador (19h, 7th floor). Scholar, collector and philanthropist of international standing Nasser Khalili is renowned for his work to promote peace, intercultural and interreligious understanding.
Last but not least, two exhibitions will be inaugurated at UNESCO, the first by the Hamdam Foundation which will be inaugurated at 15h30 in the lobby outside Room I in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. The second, “Saqqarah and Ancient Egyptian Civilization”, organized in collaboration of the Permanent Delegation of Egypt and the International Association of the Friends of Egyptian Museums will be inaugurated in Miró Hall at 18h30.
