Melika Medici: m.caucino-medici@unesco.orgThe IX Annual Meeting of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) will take place in Kanazawa, Japan (designated UNESCO City of Crafts and Folk Art in 2009), from 25 to 28 May 2015.
Representatives of 69 cities from 32 different countries are invited to Kanazawa, 10 years after the launch of the Network, to:
- Review the initiatives undertaken to foster the role of creativity in sustainable urban development and build flagship partnerships for the future;
- Reflect on the development and strategic objectives of an enlarged and more geographically balanced Network;
- Address the criteria for the selection of host cities of Network Annual meetings as well as of periodic review of membership;
- Define the areas of work of the Network for the coming year.
Previous Creative Cities annual meetings have been held in Paris (UNESCO HQ, 2008), Santa Fe (2008), Lyon (2009), Shenzhen (2010), Seoul (2011), Montréal (2012), Bologna (2013) and Chengdu (2014). The 2016 Annual Meeting will be held in in Östersund, Sweden.
