dl.coree-rep@unesco-delegations.orgPresentation of 25 works by the Korean painter Kim Geun-tae and 33 works by disabled children from the five continents.
For over 25 years, the Korean painter Kim Geun-tae has been drawing on canvas every different moment of disabled people’s life. He doesn't emphasize disabled bodies in a way to provoke sympathy in people and doesn't portray the pure spirit of disabled people in order to glorify them. He seeks to portray the communication and interaction between their disabled bodies and their free spirits and wants to illustrate new territories or domains that are not characterized by dichotomy. His artworks strive to remove bias and prejudices in the world by traveling between abstraction and concreteness, imagination and reality, normality and abnormality, and light and darkness and help people plunge into a very “pure and free beauty”.
