Chile is beginning a debate on a new media legislation to promote a more plural and independent press development. It was part of the current President's agenda and several law makers are pushing for a national debate on the issue. UNESCO has worked with other national governments, such as Argentina and Uruguay, to develop media legislation that enhances and strengthens the work of journalists and diverse media. This activity will help authorities and stakeholders in the development of a national debate on the contents of this legislation.
