UNESCO Headquarters, Salle Pas Perdus, 7, place de Fontenoy, 75007, Paris, FranceUNESCO is proud to support the European Night of Museums for the 7th consecutive year, and give its high patronage to this event taking place on Saturday 16 May 2015.
In opening the doors to its Headquarters in Paris, UNESCO this year gives the place of honor to Azerbaijan, partner for the 2015 edition. The public will be given the opportunity to visit an ensemble of exhibitions presenting both old and contemporary artwork from this country. The European Night of Museums will also be the occasion to discover, or rediscover, the modern architecture of the Organization’s Headquarters – designed by Marcel Breuer, Luigi Nervi and Bernard Zehrfuss – and a part of its rich art collection, including works by Picasso, Miró, Calder, Erró, Giacometti, Chillida, Moore or Noguchi, among others.
Following the several recent attacks perpetrated against culture across the world, we must reaffirm with all the more force the importance of museums as a place for dialogue, mutual comprehension and common values. The European Night of Museums, at UNESCO and in more than 3500 museums across Europe, will give the general public the opportunity to discover the beauty and diversity of worldwide cultural heritage and hence share in this message of tolerance, intelligence and peace.
Visits will take place from 8 pm until midnight (last admission). Entrance at 7 place de Fontenoy (exit at 125 avenue de Suffren). Free entry, without prior booking.
