14th Steering Committee for the Organization of the International Year for Indigenous Languages in preparation of the decade of Indigenous languages 2022-2032

Building on the legacy of the International Year of Indigenous Languages and in line with the United Nations resolutions 73/156 as well as an immediate follow-up to its decision to proclaim a Decade of Indigenous Languages commencing on 1st January 2022 (Ref.: A/74/396, para 24), UNESCO as a lead UN Agency is planning to organize an online consultative meeting on 5 may 2020.

The Steering Committee for the 2019 International Year for Indigenous Languages agreed to continue its work during a transition period between 2020 and 2021 in order to ensure a smooth preparatory process for the International Decade of Indigenous Languages (IDIL 2022-2032).
