Irakli Khodeli, i.khodeli@unesco.orgThe 13th Meeting of the United Nations Inter-Agency Committee on Bioethics (UNIACB) will be hosted by the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, France, from 25 to 26 March 2014.
The Committee will consider several items, including specific ethical issues such as prenatal sex selection, and more overarching questions, such as "bioethics and global justice: strengthening the post-2015 development agenda".
As customary, the meeting will also be an occasion for inter-agency discussion on emerging ethical issues and new development in the field of bioethics.
Since 2003, the United Nations Inter-Agency Committee on Bioethics (UNIACB) has been serving as a key inter-agency mechanism for sharing information between and among intergovernmental organizations dealing with issues related to bioethics, thus fostering better cooperation and coordination.
From the start, UNESCO has been in charge of the Secretariat of UNIACB.
