Short description: 
Dr Olumide Olukanni is an environmental biotechnologist with interest in pollutants biodegradation and wastewater remediation. He obtained a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. He was a visiting research to Shivaji University Kolhapur, India (2009), University of Hamburg, Germany (2014), University of Innsbruck, Austria (2022). He was lecturer of the year (2016), Chairman, Best University Committee (2016) and received the University Baca Laurel in 2018. He has attracted several research grants: TWAS-DFG, 2014; TWAS-IsDB grant 2019, GCRF Network 2020, Africa-Uninet 2022.

I am currently a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Helsinki in the faculty of Social Sciences. My research interest focuses on Universal Basic Income in sub-Saharan African countries. I mainly apply quantitative and microsimulation techniques to analyze the UBI's impact at the micro and macro levels. On the one hand, I examine its effects on poverty and inequality. On the other hand, I investigate its implications in tax revue and financial costs. I am also working as Research Assistant at United Nations University UNU-WIDER in the SOUTHMOD project.
