The UNESCO Inclusive Policy Lab curates a limited number of expert workstreams. These bring to the forefront analysis by leading thinkers from across countries. Follow our experts as they push the frontiers of policy thinking and debate hands-on solutions to the big challenges of today.

EQUITABLE RESET - WHAT ARE OUR POLICY OPTIONS?

The calls for an equitable and smart reset are strong. We have old and tested tools, but what are some of the new (and concrete) policy ideas we should be exploring? See here what experts have to say.

DATA FOR GOOD

We live in economies of data. Yet, current debates do not dig deep enough into power dynamics, equity, value, monetisation, commons, (re)distribution, and public use of data. Our experts don’t shy away and push the conversation on these hard questions.

CRISIS OF EXPERTISE, TRUST IN SCIENCE

Many of the issues at the heart of the public and policy debates are deeply scientific matters. Think COVID-19 or climate change. Science underpins it all, yet public trust in science is eroding. Why? It has a lot to do with societal polarisation, the distributional effects of science, the politicisation of science, and the scientisation of politics. Explore all the angles in our pack on crisis of expertise.

This workstream is curated by the Lab’s expert Gloria Origgi, Director of Research, CNRS Paris.

SUSTAINABLE WELFARE, ECO-SOCIAL POLICIES

We need to build welfare systems that are compatible with sustainable economics, improve people’s well-being, and respect planetary boundaries. What does that concretely entail in terms of policies? The answers are in our expert pack.

This workstream is curated by the Lab’s expert Milena Buchs, Professor of Sustainable Welfare, University of Leeds.
