Kriti Vikram is an assistant professor in the Department of Sociology, National University of Singapore. Her research centers on the social determinants of health, development, and well-being of children and families. One stream of her research focuses on the intergenerational transfer of (dis)advantage in health and cognitive development. These include a series of papers that illustrate how parental resources and characteristics influence the health and cognitive development of children in India. A second related line of work evaluates the role of governmental intervention on children’s development. The last strand focuses on women’s health, fertility, and contraceptive use in developing countries.

My expertise lies in the interlinking fields of science, public health and environmental communications and social change with over 20 years experience of research and teaching at Brunel University London and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Currently I am leading research and knowledge transfer in the emerging global issue of plastics pollution (UK. Nigeria, Indonesia, Vietnam). I am a member of high- level academic panels (UKRI /EPSRC; UKRI/NERC) and provided scientific advice to inform European Commission policy on the regulation of microplastics, leading on media and communications aspects (2018-19, SAPEA. 'Microplastics in Nature and Society'). I contributed to the DEFRA evidence review on UK marine pollution policy and the UN Environment Program International Resource Panel on marine plastic litter (commissioned by the Government of Japan to support delivery of the G20 Osaka Blue Vision). I regularly share my research with industry at key events (Plastics Europe, British Plastics Federation).

Rachael Webster is a Lecturer in the Nottingham Institute of Education (NTU), teaching modules in the fields of Special & Inclusive Education, Early Years care and education and educational leadership and management across undergraduate professional and academic courses. She is also involved in community and industry partnership projects to promote diversity and inclusion, as well being a qualified advisory teacher specialising in PMLD, inclusive communication, sesnroy impairments, and multiple disabilities including health and care. Before joining Nottingham Trent University in 2018 Rachael had been teaching for 13 years, with 10 years in specialist SEND settings working with learners who have complex needs and multiple disabilities in schools in Leicester and Coventry. For the last 3 years Rachael was working in senior leadership roles as a department lead and an assistant headteacher. She has worked as an advisory teacher within a MAT supporting staff working with learners who had multiple disabilities, complex needs or sensory impairments. Rachael has devised and delivered training packages to schools, MATs and local authorities.
