Western Africa

Draw on the know-how of your fellows as they further the inclusive policy agenda in their region

Regional integration and the prevention of violent extremism remain major challenges in West Africa. Addressing their social dimensions is central in national and regional efforts to achieve lasting peace and security, poverty reduction, quality education, labor law harmonization, social security, respect for basic human rights, gender equality, youth empowerment or democratic participation, among others.

Inclusive development work in the region aims at supporting its Member States in the review, design and implementation of policies geared towards better youth engagement and participation, women empowerment, poverty alleviation, intercultural dialogue and peaceful coexistence, in alignment with the 2030 SDGs. The Western Africa regional arms works to support and monitor these efforts, in close cooperation with regional partners such as ECOWAS, CODESRIA, the Africa Policy Institute, but also government institutions and line ministries at the national levels.
