Professor Uchechukwu E. Vincent is a Professor of Theoretical Physics at Redeemer’s University, Ede, Nigeria, where he is also the Director, Directorate of Educational Services and Training which he pioneered its establishment in 2015, and is now one of RUN’s viable sources of IGR, having chaired and served in numerous Top University Management Committees. He obtained BSc. (Physics) degree in 1997 from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta; MSc. (Radiation and Health Physics) in 2000 from the University of Ibadan and PhD in Theoretical Physics from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta in 2005, specializing in the Nonlinear dynamics of complex systems.
In 2018, he won the Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship for experienced researchers. He was one of the first three African recipients of the prestigious Newton International Fellowship in 2009 which enabled him to spend two years as a Visiting Research Fellow in Department of Physics, Lancaster University, UK under the aegis of the Royal Society of London. In addition, he was awarded the African Mathematician Union–Young African Mathematician Medal for his original contributions in Nonlinear Dynamics.
In 2013, he was one of the seven researchers selected from Nigerian universities to participate in the DIES International Deans’ Course Africa, held between 2013 and 2014 at Berlin, Ghana and Addis-Ababa. He has been a Team-member at both local and international accreditation exercises and External Examiner/Assessor at all levels in African Universities.
Prof. Vincent provides academic mentorship to a consortium of African researchers in the field of dynamical systems and chaos. He had supervised and graduated numerous students (including 6 MSc. and 7 PhDs); all of which are significantly progressing - two are currently Readers.
He has travelled widely to participate in conferences at local and internal levels; and visited several Research Institutes to carry out his work. Professor Vincent is currently a distinguished visiting Research Fellow at Lancaster University, United Kingdom – a position he has been holding since 2011.
Professor Vincent is on the Editorial Boards of some renowned Journals indexed in Web-of-Science, including being the only Africa on the editorial Board of Fluctuation and Noise Letters. He is also a member of several reputable academic societies both locally and internationally, as well as a member of the International Advisory Board of the Cameroon Physical Society.
Prof. U. E. Vincent has made outstanding contributions to scholarship and scientific advancement in Science in the area of Nonlinear Dynamics and Chaos for which he has been listed in Who-is-Who in the World. He is a Professor of Physics of international outlook and has published over 96 journal articles with 58 (~60%) appearing in ISI-Web of Science, H-index is 25, ranking among the top 50 Nigerian scientists and top 5 Physicist.
