Introduction
Tara is a Canada Research Chair and Assistant Professor of Gender, Development, and Global Public Policy at the University of British Columbia's School of Public Policy and Global Affairs. Her area of expertise is social protection, care, and the use of data as a tool for action on gender equality. She is also the Co-founder of Ladysmith, a feminist research consultancy that helps international organizations collect, analyze and take action on gender data, and author of the award-winning book Unjust Conditions: Women's Work and the Hidden Cost of Cash Transfer Programs (UC Press.)

I am an expert in gender, social protection, care, and data to inform evidence-based policy making. My award-winning book, Unjust Conditions: Women's Work and the Hidden Cost of Cash Transfer Programs (published open access), shed new light on the gender impacts of conditionalities in rural Peru and has informed a range of UN engagements. I have extensive experience conducting policy-relevant research on social protection systems and care programming with UN Women, UNICEF, ILO, Global Affairs Canada, USAID and others, and advised on strategic planning and trainings on these topics.
