Philipp Kircher is a professor of economics at the European University Institute and the University of Edinburgh. He was previously professor of economics at the London School of Economics, and held academic positions at Oxford and the University of Pennsylvania, after obtaining his PhD in economics in 2006 from the University of Bonn. Earlier he obtained masters degrees in Business Administration from the University of Winsconsin Milwaukee in 1999 and Industrial Engineering from University of Karlsruhe in 2001. He serves as chairman and one of the directors at the Review of Economic Studies, where he also used to serve as managing editor. His work on labor markets and inequality, and his work on HIV/AIDS, have been published in all leading economics journals including the American Economic Review, Econometrica, the Journal of Political Economy, the Review of Economic Studies and the Quarterly Journal of Economics.
