I hold a PhD in international law and global health governance from University of British Columbia, Canada. I have been a human rights lawyer and activist in Nigeria; global health (legal) officer at WHO headquarters in Geneva; professor of international law at Carleton University, Canada, and senior research fellow at United Nations University institutes in Tokyo and Kuala Lumpur. I have held visiting and short-term appointments in universities and academic institutions in Italy, Costa Rica, Japan, and South Africa. My expertise covers human rights and bioethics, global governance, south-south relations, SDGs, international development, United Nations system, and Third World Approaches to international law (TWAIL). I am the author of Global Health Governance: International Law and Public Health in a Divided World (2005) and other publications. I am a Canadian citizen of Nigerian descent.
