Prof Nicholas M. Odhiambo holds a PhD (Economics) degree from the University of Stellenbosch. He is a seasoned academic whose research has made a significant contribution to the scholarly body of knowledge. His research has over the years focused on the dynamic linkages between the various macroeconomic policies in African countries and their effect on economic growth and poverty reduction. He has a strong bias towards sub-Saharan African countries, which are currently ravaged by high levels of poverty and low levels of economic growth in per capita terms. He is currently one of the top economics researchers, not only in Africa, but also internationally. He is also one of the most-cited and most-read economics authors worldwide – according to RePEc/IDEAS (https://ideas.repec.org/e/pod33.html). He is currently working as Professor of Economics and Head of Macroeconomic Policy Analysis (MPA) research flagship programme at the University of South Africa (UNISA).
