Introduction
Dr Marta Cristina Azaola is a Lecturer in the Southampton Education School at the University of Southampton. Her areas of interest lie in the fields of sociology of education and education policy. Her work is concerned with educational inequalities, in particular, educational inclusion and exclusion in deprived areas. She has participated in a wide range of international joint research projects; the most recent ones: School belonging across deprived Upper Secondary Schools in Mexico (funded by CONACYT); Public-private divide in Upper Secondary Schools in Mexico (funded by Santander Overseas Research Grant); Enhancing reflective learning and school collaboration in rural Mexico (funded by the British Council); Intercultural mentoring tools to support migrant integration at school (funded by the European Union) and Choice, well-being and opportunity in the Jersey school system (funded by the Jersey Community Relations Trust).
