Liselotte Englund holds a doctorate in journalism from Gothenburg University, Sweden, and is Assistant Professor in Media and Communication studies, based at the Risk Management Department at Karlstad University, Sweden. Since January 2021, she is Deputy Dean of the Faculty for Arts and Social Sciences. Her main research focus is within the field of trauma journalism. During recent years, she has conducted studies on journalists work at disasters and survivors' experiences of media exposure as well as crisis communication and media management in healthcare and authorities. Englund also has around 30 years of experience as a journalist and independent writer, including as science and medicine editor at the Swedish Radio and editor of humanities and social sciences at the Swedish Research Council. In 2010, she was awarded Frank Ochberg Award for Media and Trauma Study, from the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS).
