Leigh is a clinical psychologist based in Cape Town, South Africa. She is a Senior Lecturer in the Psychology Department at UWC and the coordinator of the Psychology Honours programme. Leigh is also the acting Chairperson for the NPO, Pets as Therapy (South Africa), which is a community-based, voluntary outreach organisation that coordinates animal assisted activities. Research interests include discursive constructions of health and illness, child and adolescent mental health; young masculinities and identity; and human-animal interaction, specifically, animal-assisted interventions.
