Introduction
I am a lecturer in the School of Sociology & Social Policy at the University of Leeds, and programme leader for the MA in Social and Public Policy in the school. My research interests include citizen participation; communities; consultations; resilience; emergencies and disasters; futures; planning and preparation.
Expert
I have over a decade of experience of working in academic research and teaching. Previously to working at the University of Leeds, I was employed as a researcher at the University of Sheffield and at the UNESCO Centre, University of Ulster (Coleraine). I have a multidisciplinary background encompassing humanities, social sciences and politics. My research has involved working with a range of public, private and third sector organisations, including UNESCO; Tidal Lagoon Power; the Greater Manchester Coalition of Disabled People (GMCDP); local and national voluntary sector organisations; local authorities in Wales and England; the Royal College of General Practitioners; and sector skills councils. I am committed not only to disseminating findings and insights through traditional academic routes, but also through direct engagement with different non-academic audiences.
