Introduction
Dr Ivana Damjanovic is a Lecturer in Law at the University of Canberra and a Visiting Research Fellow at the Centre for European Studies of the Australian National University. Her research is interdisciplinary, encompassing issues of law and politics in international investment global regime, with particular focus on the European Union and its external investment, trade and climate change policies.

Dr Ivana Damjanovic has expertise across different legal systems, international law and international relations. She holds a PhD from Australian National University, a Master of Economic Science from University College Dublin (Ireland) and an integrated Bachelor and Master of Laws degree from University of Zagreb (Croatia). She has been admitted as a legal practitioner in Australia. Ivana has taught law as a guest lecturer at universities in Asia (China, Bhutan) and Europe (Belgium, Croatia). She has provided training to Australian government and industry stakeholders on EU trade and investment law and policy, and has presented her research at conferences in Australia, Europe (Luxembourg, Brussels), Asia (Tokyo, Shanghai) and the US (Yale University). Her professional background encompasses nine years as a career diplomat for Croatia with diplomatic postings in Europe and Australia, as well as research/policy roles for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
