Gonzalo Fanjul is researcher and activist against poverty. Currently manages the area of policy analysis at ISGlobal and promotes the foundation PorCausa (journalism and investigation to erradicate poverty). He is also an associate researcher for migration in theOverseas Development Institute (ODI) in London, as well as at the Spanish think tank CIECODE. In 2018 he became social innovation fellow in the global network Ashoka. He often collaborates with written and visual communication media and is author and co-editor at the blog associated to El Pais (main newspaper in Spain) called 3.500 Millones, winner of the FAO prize in 2012. He has been a main author for the Report Card 12 for Innocenti-UNICEF on child poverty in rich countries and collaborator in the program on migrations at the Center for Global Development. In 2016 he received fundings for excellence in investigation by Fundación BBVA.
In 1995 he graduates from a double degree in economics and development. He then collaborates to the creation of the project Proyecto Acogida, an organization that supports substance abusers in their rehabilitation. He then stayed in Cuzco (Perú) working at a local organization for rural development, and adheres to the campaign team at Oxfam Intermón, where he managed for over a decade the field of investigations, leading also different political teams at Oxfam International. After that he graduates from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University from his post-graduate studies and collaborates with Lant Pritchett in migration research and development.
