My name is Dr Flávia H. Santos. I am a neuroscientist at the University College London, Institute of Education, England, UK and awardee of the prestigious Ad Astra Fellowship at University College Dublin, Ireland. I have been a Research Fellow at the Geary Institute for Public Policy since 2022 and serve as Chair of the MCLS Mathematical Cognition and Learning Society. My research focuses on factors that affect maths learning, including developmental dyscalculia and maths anxiety, and brain-related mechanisms using tRNS, pupillometry and EEG.

Dr Santos has been funded by Irish Research Council, Erasmus+ European Commission and Leverhulme Trust in projects focused on improving mathematics learning, reducing maths anxiety for primary school and middle school students using digital games and storytelling strategies. Her former work included musical training to improve maths learning in children with developmental dyscalculia. She elaborate policy papers on factor impacting maths achievement.
