Emma is a highly experienced qualitative researcher who is committed to ensuring that the voice of people who use services and their carers is included in decision-making at all levels. She is also committed to improving outcomes for practitioners across diverse services, with the understanding that you can't have good outcomes for one group without the other.

Emma is a leader in her field which is outcomes and strengths based practice for people who use services and family carers. With a background in social work practice she obtained her PhD in Sociology in 2004 and immediately started her research career investigating outcomes for people and the integration of services. Since then she has worked in diverse countries and has an extensive list of publications on the theme of outcomes for people and person centred practice, including academic articles, policy reports and practice guides. She is a skilled facilitator who thrives on bringing diverse perspectives together in order to generated shared understanding and coherence around priorities for change
