Have done a lot of work on international investment agreements where I combine my economic approach with insights from coauthors in law and political science. Most recently working on zero-carbon energy for the Asia-Pacific with a team from across social science, natural science and engineering.

Emma Aisbett is an Associate Professor at ANU School of Law and Associate Director (Research) for the ANU Grand Challenge - Zero Carbon Energy for the Asia Pacific. She has a PhD in Agricultural and Resource Economics from UC Berkeley, a Master’s in Environmental Change and Management from Oxford University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from UNSW.
She combines her interdisciplinary understanding with extensive government and industry engagement to develop solutions to problems at the intersection of international economic regulation and the environment. She is best known for her work on international investment agreements. Her current research focusses on Trade-Related Climate Policies, and their intersection with Green Industrial Policy. In addition to publishing in leading journals in economics, political science, law and engineering, Emma provides expertise to Australian Government and industry, and to international organisations such as the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, OECD and UNCTAD.
