Introduction
International security expert with a professional background in research and teaching/training. My work focuses on international cooperation and state strategies towards violent non-state actors and their various illicit activities, micro dynamics of irregular conflicts, and Russia, the Caucasus, and Central Asia.
I hold a PhD in International Relations from the University of St Andrews (Scotland, UK) where I explored Russian counterterrorist tactics applied in the North Caucasus, and a MA in Political Science from the Southern Federal University (Russia). I am a proficient user of R, SPSS, selected Adobe Creative Cloud applications, and fluent in English and Russian. Professional duties include data-focused research and design/management of a regional N-large data-sets on micro dynamics of violent non-state actors.
Building on experience of working as a graphic designer, I enrich presentation and enhance perception of research outcomes by its visualisation through relevant graphic forms including maps, illustrations, and graphs produced in R, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, or hand-drawn creative images.
Expert
To date I have been fortunate to have achieved some key foundational objectives during my international research career. I have a PhD from the University of St Andrews, a world-renowned university, with a strong reputation for security studies and international politics, where I had been part of a Marie Curie European Training Network for 4 years and completed a PhD thesis. In years after finishing PhD, I obtained diverse intersectoral experience, including by training the governmental officials within the Institute of Diplomacy in Nur-Sultan in Kazakhstan. There I have convened courses for MA and PhD students, civil servants and diplomats, applied data visualisation during presentations and talks; and supervised five MA dissertations. I further developed my profile by working at the leading research institute in Central Europe, located in Prague, strengthening link to policy-driven projects. Additionally, I have published peer-reviewed articles in Nationalities Papers, Politeia, Vestnik of the National Antiterrorist Committee, and two book chapters. This year I have been working on a very original and prospectively influential co-authored book on the peace building in the Chechen Republic which received a written interest from the Pennsylvania University Press. Beyond publishing, I disseminated my work using professional platforms at Columbia University, University of Oxford and Vienna Webster Private University. I seek to keep performing research of crime and terrorism, gender equality, social innovation in security sector and producing evidence-based research outputs helping to shape policies.
