Introduction
Brandy Henry, PhD, is a clinician scientist who uses years of practice experience to improve criminalized populations' health. Her work addresses incarceration's social determinants, and health disparities among criminalized populations, focusing on trauma, mental health, and substance use disorders. She has expertise in the intersection of criminal justice and health policy, particularly in the areas of solitary confinement, pre-trial incarceration, prison education, mental health, drug use, and infectious diseases (i.e.: COVID-19, Hepatitis C, and HIV/AIDS).

Brandy Henry, PhD, completed postdoctoral training at Columbia University Schools of Social Work and Public Health, received doctorate and master’s degrees in social policy from Brandeis University, a master of social welfare degree from the University of California Los Angeles, and a bachelor’s degree in psychology, with minors in statistics and biology, from Boston University. She was awarded a Public Policy Summer Fellowship from Harvard University, and is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. Her research documents incarceration's social determinants and health disparities.
