Introduction
Dr. Ashwini Tiwari is an associate professor in the Urban Education Department at the University of Houston-Downtown, where he primarily teaches special education courses. Dr. Tiwari received his dual-title Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Comparative International Education from Penn State University and MA in Special Education from the University of Arizona. Before joining UHD, he held faculty positions at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV). Additionally, Dr. Tiwari has worked as a special educator in an inner-city school district in Phoenix, Arizona; He holds certifications in K-12 Special Education areas with an endorsement in the Structured English Immersion.
Dr. Tiwari's research is centered around "examining educational inequity issues with a focus on inclusive education in the comparative international contexts." His research findings have been published in many top-tier journals such as Teaching and Teacher Education, Educational Studies, Journal of Research in Special Educational Needs, and Asia Pacific Education Review. He regularly presents at the American Educational Research Association (AERA) and, Comparative and International Education Society (CIES) Conference.
