Introduction
I am chief researcher/associate professor at the Southern Africa Labour and Development Research Unit (SALDRU) at the University of Cape Town, with a PhD in Sociology and close to two decades of experience in leading multi-disciplinary research projects that focus on youth, poverty and deprivation. My work spans longitudinal quantitative data analysis, ethnographic studies and implementation research, involving careful, high level policy engagement.

Close to two decades of experience, developing a multi-disciplinary research focus on youth well-being in contexts of poverty and inequality, high level policy engagement, and evidence-based policy development. Principal investigator on projects related to Youth and the Intergenerational Transmission of Poverty, Youth Unemployment, NEET Youth, Intervention design and M&E, and developing indicators on youth well-being to inform policy planning and implementation, in partnership with National Presidency and Statistics South Africa.
