Allen Muyaama Mukhwana is the Research Systems Manager at The African Academy of Sciences (www.aasciences.ac.ke). She is responsible for the Research Management Programme (ReMPRO Africa) which seeks to build the expertise necessary to create and sustain robust research enterprise and environments by addressing systemic level challenges at institutions in African. She was previously Centre Manager for the Makerere University/Uganda Virus Research Institute Centre of Excellence for Infection & Immunity Research and Training (MUII-plus) http://www.muii.org.ug . She was responsible for setting up management systems for the centre and service the partnerships and collaborations. Prior, Allen was the Senior Research Administrator and Head of Capacity Building the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI), College of Health Sciences, Makerere University (https://www.idi-makerere.com). Whilst at IDI she established the research systems and support functions and developed the governance framework. Her work has spanned academia, industry and the NGO sector and has vast experience engaging with local and international partners.
