I am an Associate Professor of Mathematics Education and Teacher Education at the University of South Florida, USA. I am an expert on innovation in clinically rich teacher preparation- and specifically on equipping teachers to meet the mathematics needs of all students. I study how teachers can use meta-processes such as professional consultation and use of research literature to inform their teaching to create more effective classrooms for students who have previously struggled with mathematics.

My research agenda lies at the intersection of effective mathematics education and teacher education. I am fundamentally concerned with the ways in which we equip teachers to meet the mathematics learning needs of students who have learning difficulties and differences. One strand of my research explores how teachers learn to use research to inform their teaching. Another strand examines how general education teachers learn to engage in consultation with special education professionals in order to meet the mathematics learning needs of their students.
