Paola Uccelli studies language and literacy development in monolingual and bilingual learners with the aim of informing evidence-based educational practices. Her research on language assessment in English, Spanish, and Portuguese --conducted in the U.S., Latin America, and other regions-- sheds light on the need to pay instructional attention to individual differences in school-relevant language learning to support students’ reading and writing throughout schooling. Her work has been supported by the Institute of Education Sciences, Lemann Foundation, David Rockefeller Center, among others.
