Sara is a professor of developmental psychology and education, and a 2022 UNESCO-IBE Science of Learning fellow. Sara specialises in playful learning, executive functions and self-regulation in the early years. Sara uses lab-based experiments and works with teachers in schools to translate research from cognitive science into educational contexts. Her projects have been funded by the Economic and Social Research Council, the LEGO Foundation and the Nuffield Foundation.

I have convened communities of practice and used theories of change to identify how educational and psychological research can respond to stakeholder priorities. I have also worked with community partners as co-researchers to communicate profiles of change for practitioners, highlighting shared barriers and solutions. Inclusive policy can draw on rigorous engagement with interested parties, to identify what works, and for whom.
