Introduction
Taanishii, I'm Métis from Lac Pelletier, Saskatchewan, Canada. I am an assistant professor in Indigenous Studies at the University of British Columbia in Syilx Territory in the Okanagan. I teach about the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and am interested in international Indigenous organizing and advocating for and protecting Indigenous Rights.

My research a specializations are firmly rooted in Indigenous studies, with additional expertise in contemporary urban Indigenous Peoples and perspectives as well as collaborative Indigenous research methodologies. My previous and current research is centred on interdisciplinary collaborations with urban Indigenous organizations with the aim of promoting research capacity and improved community wellbeing. As a Métis person, I see myself as a bridge-builder and strive to create transformative research and learning experiences.
