Dr. Cristina-Ioana Dragomir is a scholar of migration, gender and environment. She is a Clinical
Assistant Professor in Global Liberal Studies department at New York University.
Dr. Dragomir previously taught at Columbia University, Institute for the Study of Human Rights, served as an Assistant Professor of Political Science at SUNY Oswego, and was a Center for Advanced Study of India 2016-2018 Visiting Scholar at University of Pennsylvania. Additionally,
she was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy.
She consults with the United Nations, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), and International Organization for Migration.
She received her PhD from New School for Social Research in 2014, for her work on immigration in the U.S., her M.A. in American Studies and her B.A. in Philosophy from Babes Bolyai University in Romania. She is the recipient of several awards and fellowships including NYU Migration Network Research Award, the Ted Robinson Memorial Award, Bucerius Ph.D. Fellowship “Settling in Motion,” and The Global Network Grant from Open Society Institute. Her work has been widely published in books and articles in English, Spanish, Catalan and Hindi.
