I am a professor and researcher focused on peace and conflict studies. My main interest is exploring and understanding the role of universities and other higher education institutions as peacebuikding actors, both globally and in their own communities.

Thomas E. Hill is a professional peacebuilding scholar-practitioner with more than 20 years of experience. He has focused on Iraq as the main locus of his activities, but also conducts research in Libya and Colombia. He teaches, conducts research and supervises graduate students in their research. He also has designed, developed, conducted and managed peacebuilding education interventions, including research initiatives, training workshops with community leaders in Iraq and elsewhere. Dr. Hill is dedicated to supporting the development of effective educational strategies for transforming conflict into a constructive force and to reducing the human cost of war.
Dr. Hill draws upon his practical experiences as well as his formal education in order to promote education as a mechanism for sustainable peacebuilding. He facilitates international academic partnerships that help universities play a more active role in peacebuilding through conflict transformation. Dr. Hill is interested in developing collaborative connections between universities and schools in the developed and developing worlds that will contribute to peacebuilding worldwide.
