Expert
Sonia Garzon’s research interests include the political function of resistance (e.g., dissensus, contestation) in contexts of peacebuilding and post-authoritarian transitions. She works with feminist theory, intersectionalities, conflict transformation and agonistic theory, applying their insights to transformative transitional justice and reconciliation processes. Her analysis seeks to theorize the possibilities of these mechanisms and processes to include dissensus, contestation, and difference. Sonia has also worked on forced displacement in urban contexts and socio-spatial justice exploring their intersections with gender inequality and the agency of feminist and gender-based movements. She received Master degrees from the University of Lodz (Poland), the University of Granada and University Jaume I (Spain). Sonia holds a PhD in Gender Studies from the Central European University, Budapest (Hungary).
