I teach across Disaster & Emergency Management at Coventry University. My professional background includes work in disaster preparedness, response and early recovery, working for international NGOs and through consultancy work. Much of my teaching reflects this. Example areas of expertise include: disaster management practice, Cash and Voucher Assistance, post-disaster reconstruction, sustainable development and social enterprise.
My current research interests centre on the intersections between communal physical activity (particularly running), community resilience, urban resilience, the built environment and healthy cities. Previously, my research has considered the use of immersive virtual environments for teaching and learning, aimed at both students and disaster & emergency management practitioners.
Fields of expertise: Education, Monitoring and evaluation, Participation, Sustainable Development Goals
