She established this group in 2009 to scale up development economics research and adapt it to the needs to systematically increase the returns to development finance and programming. By investing in specialization, the group was able to invest in the technical processes and procedures that enable high standards of research quality, ethics, transparency, reproducibility and data privacy and security; focus on global public goods. She aligned global thematic and country programs strategically to operational learning priorities to decrease the costs of research and increase the speed of global knowledge generation and adoption. She helped develop integrated adaptive field research practices across at all stages of the project cycle to optimize project design, implementation and effectiveness in real time; the focus on local knowledge hinges on strong collaborations with local partners. By investing in government technical and financial capacity and focusing on long-term relationships, the group secures high levels of adoption of data and evidence-informed policy. Building a team of 250 people and partnering with a large number of donor agencies, the group supports adaptive implementation of $26B in development finance across 62 countries.
