I am a researcher focussed on migration and society, with special interest in the lived experiences of refugees in cities.
Expert
I've conducted ethnographic and participatory research with refugee and migrant populations across Europe (UK, Germany, and Greece) and the Middle East (mainly Jordan), as well as supporting projects in Afghanistan, Kenya, and Ethiopia. I've worked in inter-disciplinary and trans-disciplinary teams, and with creative methodologies, to understand the lived experience of migrants and refugees, and how networks of support and solidarity are created and sustained within communities that host them. This includes a commitment to working with communities to identify where the city (through its human and non-human infrastructures) enables agency and solidarity, and where it disables it, and how policy programmes (including austerity) impact on the ability to create and sustain more inclusive societies.
