Introduction
Jo is based at the University of Glasgow. She has written extensively on the value of a human rights framework to remove disabling barriers to being and doing, writing on rights and caring, measuring rights and on realising rights for disabled people. As a member of the Research Advisory Group to the Scottish Human Rights Commission, Jo has completed several projects including an evaluation of Scotland’s National Action Plan for human rights. Jo is an internationally recognised methodologist and also works with the Scottish Graduate School of Social Sciences as Deputy Director for Training.
Expert
I have expertise in human rights measurement for progressive social transformation to reveal the level of violations particularly in nations (such as Scotland) where comparative indicators do not capture the nature or scale of violations. This work engages with participation, with economic, social and cultural rights and human rights budgeting.
I am a method expert leading transformative programmes teaching quantitative and qualitative methods I have developed learning environments that engage with researcher emotion and trauma-informed approaches.
