I am Lecturer in African Studies and International Development at the University of Edinburgh.
I am a geographer by training. My work is in the fields of economic geography, development studies, political economy, and labour studies. I am interested to explore the challenges of digital transformation and its impact on economy, labour, and society in Africa.

I am Lecturer in African Studies and International Development at the University of Edinburgh.
I have a growing international profile having been the Fellow of the Global Future Council on Digital Economy, World Economic Forum.
I also currently hold Research Associate positions at the University of Oxford and University of Johannesburg.
I have written extensively around these issue dealing with the complex relationship between digital technologies and development. In my work, I have explored the emergence of new digital jobs in Africa (e.g. the gig economy) and their potential towards decent work in the African context. My ongoing work looks at the gig economy with respect to the pandemic in Africa.
To this end my work work has appeared in well-regarded peer-reviewed journals, such as Environment and Planning A, Review of African Political Economy, Competition and Change, African Geographical Review, Singapore Journal of Tropical Geography, and First Monday.
I regularly contributes to public debate through blogs, articles for online news sources, and radio interviews. His articles have appeared in New Statesman and The Conversation.
I have worked with different types of stakeholders including researchers, scholars, policy makers and third party organisation (e.g. ILO) to ensure that the research is fed directly into the policy making.
My research has received funding the British Academy/Leverhulme Trust, the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), the Foundation of Urban and Regional Studies.
