My research interests are trans-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary, spanning geography, environmental science, political science and cognate disciplines. They include the governance of sustainable development and climate change, earth processes, climate change mitigation, adaptation, resilience and risk, environmental (geo)politics, the political economy of the state, how environmental knowledge is used to inform policy and the scale debate in human geography. More specifically, my current interests examine how power and risk are configured and negotiated across territorial space through environmental/climate governance as a means to transforming traditional climate policy and decision-making processes and fixed scales of policy and governance through increased citizen action and more open science. I have advised national and local governments on climate change issues, as well as reviewed national policies and assessment reports related to climate change.
