Introduction
Eleftherios Giovanis studied economics at the University of Thessaly. He completed the M.Sc. in Applied Economics and Finance at the University of Macedonia and the M.Sc. in Quality Assurance at the Hellenic Open University in 2009. He completed his PhD in economics at the Royal Holloway University of London. He was awarded the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Research Individual Fellowship at the University of Verona in 2015 and worked as an assistant professor in economics at Adnan Menderes University in 2017. In 2018-2021 he worked as a Senior Lecturer of Economics at Manchester Metropolitan University, and in 2019-2021 he was a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellow at Adnan Menderes University. He is currently an Associate Professor of Economics at Izmir Bakircay University.

In 2015 I have completed my Ph.D. in Economics at RHUL. During the academic year 2013-2014 I worked as a research fellow in econometrics, statistics and data visualization at IMT Institute of Advanced Studies in Lucca of Italy and then as a post-doc researcher and co-investigator in a project funded by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) at University of Bologna-department of economics. The project was related to environmental economics and the impact of air pollution on health using micro-level data and surveys, such as the British Household Panel Survey (BHPS), the Income and Living Conditions Survey (ILCS) in Turkey and the Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE). Then I won a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Research Individual Fellowship at the University of Verona and the department of Economics over the period June 2015 to May 2017.
In the spring term of the academic year 2016-2017 and the fall term of the academic year 2017-2018 I worked as an Assistant Professor in Economics at the Departments of International Relations at Adnan Menderes University (ADU), where I have designed and developed various courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate level, including Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Research Methods in Social Sciences, Statistics and Econometrics. Currently, now I am affiliated in the Department of Economics, Policy and International Business (EPIB) at the Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) and in the Economics Living Lab (www.econlivlab.eu) at Verona University, which consists of a team of researchers and professionals, working on projects related to social and sustainable development with various partners.
I gained significant commercial experience working as Statistician-Econometrician Analyst in opinion polls, market research firms and I have an extensive academic experience on quantitative analysis, methods and economics. Since, my Ph.D. studies I have worked, participated, contributed and led research proposals and projects funded from various institutions, including the Economics Research Forum (ERF) in Egypt, the Einaudi Institute in Italy, the TUBITAK, Verona University, and the European Commission.
In November of 2019 I have started working as a Research Fellow in a research project funded by the European Commission Horizon 2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Cofund program “Co-Funded Brain Circulation2 Scheme (CoCirculation2)” and the Turkish Scientific and Technological Research Council (TÜBİTAK) with Dr. Oznur Ozdamar and Professor Sacit Hadi Akdede at ADU. I am planning to apply for ERC starting grant related to environmental and health economics, such as allowances for energy efficiency housing renovations and congestion charging zone policies for air quality improvements and other factors and reforms that may reduce air pollution and improve the public health.
I have extensive experience of applications in various topics of sociology and economics, including life satisfaction and air pollution, health and environment, disability and recovery, crime and rehabilitation, household collective models and bargaining power between couples and family members, teleworking and its effects on firm performance, employee loyalty, job satisfaction, household production allocation among others.
I have worked on micro data, including the Swiss Household Survey (SHP), the income and Living conditions survey (ILCS), the BHPS, the Understanding Society Survey, the General Lifestyle survey in UK and other surveys from Egypt, Jordan, Italy, Germany, UK, Iraq, Tunisia and Turkey. Moreover, I have experience on survey design during my employment in the marketing companies, such as the Ipsos Opinion in Athens Greece and Analysis Center in Serres, Greece, where we were designing surveys for municipality services and quality including the water supply companies, the banking services, and other companies, such as super markets, furniture companies and others and I was developing the questionnaire forms in Microsoft Access.
